Business Description

I bring to the practice of psychotherapy a doctoral degree in theology as well as psychology and 17 years of teaching Religious Studies on the college level. I am ready to assist clients who feel they have been harmed psychologically by religion or spirituality and to draw on religion or spirituality as sources of healing. I have no interest in promoting any particular tradition and will ignore these topics if so asked. I have specific training and experience in the treatment or trauma resulting from abuse and neglect, domestic violence, war, torture or accidents.

Mission Statement

My primary goal is to build a strong enough relationship with my clients that they feel safe and free enough to let themselves experience the emotions that had previously been too frightening to experience. This enables them to have better connections with the people around them.

My practice is devoted primarily to the assessment and treatment of adults. The majority of my clients are dealing with trauma, relationship problems, chronic pain, and ADHD as well as depression and anxiety.

1) Psychotherapy

I work primarily with individuals and couples but also with different family configurations. I am especially attentive to how clients have been shaped by their history and to how they relate to themselves. I listen carefully and try to help clients hear themselves.

2) Psychological Evaluation/assesment

Evaluations are usually done at request of departments of surgery, courts and human service agencies.
