Business Description
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has worked in mental health counseling for over 14 years and in education over 20 years. My educational background consists of an undergraduate degree in English and secondary education from Mississippi College, a Master's of Science degree in reading disorders from the Uniersity of Southern Mississippi, and a Master's of Science degree in Educational Psychology and Psychometry from Mississippi State University. I have accrued 21 post graduate hours in counseling psychology from Mississippi College in order to complete the requirements for a Licensed Professional Counselor. As an educator, I have been employed as a classromm teacher, teacher of the gifted, reading coordinator, curriculum supervisor, assistant principal, psychometrist, and as a instructor of psychology on the junior college level.
My internship as a therapist was with St. Dominics Counseling Center supervised by Criss Lott, PhD, Hinds Comprehensive Mental Health, and the Child Development Center at the University Medical Center supervised by Don Raggio, PhD. My first position as a therapist was as a school based therapist with Jackson Public Schools/St. Dominic. I served as the parent education director of the National Alliance for Mental Health-MS. In that position I initiated the first CEU program for teachers in the nation and was published by NAMI Beginnings, their national parent magazine. I worked as a clinical therapist for St. Dominics Counseling Center for over 2 years, and since 2009 I have been in private practice in Ridgeland, MS. While in private practice I have written several articles for MS Christian Living and Parents and KIds.
