At Mountain Sports Ltd we take it upon ourselves to know the gear we sale inside and out through research but also its the same gear we use on our days off! Our staff goes the extra mile to help educate our customers on what the difference might be between a particular product and why it would be useful. We go above and beyond to make sure our customers are taken care of and any piece of gear bought from MSL we know will stand the test of time and if it does not we will work with the company to take care of warranty problems that can take place. Our goal is to enrich every outing for you so you have the best possible experience while out on the trail or on the water!

Mountain Sports Ltd or MSL was started by the Cheers family in 1986. Bob and Alice Cheers opened the doors with the help of their sons Bobby and Steve which allowed them to create a job for their passions. Still to this day MSL is a company that is true to its roots and carries the gear that will last you on your outings without compromising quality.

1) Outdoor Retail Store

In 1981 Bob and Alice Cheers, along with the help of their sons Bobby and Steve, opened Mountain Sports Ltd in Bristol, Virginia. For the past 30 Years Mountain Sports Ltd has been Bristol's source of outdoor equipment and knowledge because we don't just sell the products in our store, we use them on our days off and all around the world. Cheers for keeping it local!

2) Bike Shop

Since 1981 MSL has been the area's go to shop for all your biking needs. We have a full bike shop complete with bikes, components, accessories, and apparel. We carry mountain, road, cruiser, commuter, and comfort bikes from Specialized and Surly. Trouble with your bike and need to get it fixed? No problem, we have a Bike Mechanic in the shop everyday of the week and we will get you back on the road or trail!

3) Fly Fishing

Mountain Sports Ltd is a full service fly shop with everything you need to get you on the water and more! We are an authorized Orvis Dealer but also sale all the tying material for all your tying needs. We carry both Scott and Orvis fly rods as well as Orvis and Hatch fly reels. As well as Orvis apparel and wading boots we also carry brands such as Korkers wading boots, Abel nippers, Gamagatsu hooks, Fishpond, and Patagonia. We offer fly tying classes in the winter as well as instructional intro to fly fishing classes in the summer. Swing by the shop to talk to Jimmy Cheers, our head Fly Fishing Guide!

4) Kayaks, Canoes, And Sup's

With so many bodies of water in our own back yard, it's hard not to end up on the water on a day off, relaxing evening after work, or early morning exercise. One of the unique things about kayaks, sups, and canoes are they open up new areas you can access even if the water is low on a shallow section of a river not accessible by a motor boat or shallow coves on the lake. No matter what your reasoning for kayaking, we know that time on the water is time well spent so grab your friends, family, or pup and get out on the water! We carry Perception, and Wilderness System Kayaks, Mad River Canoes and NRS stand up paddle boards along with the paddles, life jackets (specific for kayak and canoes), accessories, and apparel for all your kayaking, suping, and canoeing needs!

5) Hiking And Camping

Whether your heading out for a week long hiking trip on the Appalachian Trail or just car camping with the family, MSL has you covered with all the gear that will enhance your experience. From our knowledge of local trails to boots that can handle the rough terrain of Grayson Highlands we have you covered. We have a full hiking and camping store with everything from Boots, Socks, and Apparel to Tents, Hammocks, and Backpacks along with the accessories needed to make your outing one to remember.
