The shutters business began when we were only selling window blinds. Customers kept calling to ask if we also sold shutters. The salesman in me very quickly tired of saying no to potential business. So before long we had searched out sources for interior shutters and learned how to build our own exterior shutters. So, which ever sort of shutters you need we can help.

EXTERIOR SHUTTERS





We build our own exterior shutters. We use the best material and most thoughtful construction techniques to make the best shutter we can possibly build. You can find a cheaper shutter, but you will be hard pressed to find a better one. If you are interested in buying for the long term, give us a call.





INTERIOR SHUTTERS





We use several shutter fabricators in Texas as sources for our shutters; there is even one import supplier. Occasionally, we will build a very custom shutter in our own shop in Tyler. The one thing all of these sources have in common is that they supply very high quality shutters. These are the best that we can find. If you are looking for high quality at a good price you are at the right place; if you only want a low price Shumate Woodworking is not for you.

When we went full time into the window blind business in 2004, we only offered solid wood window blinds. They were some of the best you could buy. Times have changed, and my suppliers are no longer able to service an account as small as Shumate Woodworking.



The bad news is we have been forced to sell other people’s blinds. The good news is that one of our suppliers builds an even better blind than we did. The better news is that the rest of our suppliers are much more reasonably priced.



Even though we are no longer building our own blinds, we are still offering high quality goods. Life is too short for warranty work, so we sell only the best we can find.

Shumate Woodworking began business as a small custom furniture maker. As the romance of being a starving artist began to wear off, we moved into window blinds, shutters, and other
window treatments. Now we can make a living, but my heart is still in furniture building.



If you can find the piece of furniture that you want at a furniture store, they will very likely sell it to you cheaper than I can make it. A piece of custom furniture is for the
client who wants beautiful things that last, and who does not mind paying for them.

Shumate Woodworking can build custom doors for your home. We can build either entry doors or passage doors. Our production techniques and capacity do not allow us to compete with the big factories on stock doors—we are just too few, but they can not compete with us in quality or unique styling.



If you can not find what you need in a store, we can help you. We can build whatever you can dream made out of any species of wood.
